At Mays, we pride ourselves on being able to provide you with an easy and speedy route to your cash payout. Whether you come to see us at any of our branches, speak to our helpful staff over the telephone, or fill out our online application form, you will be amazed at how quickly you receive your money following a simple four stage process.

Our 4 Stage Process

Fill out our simple application form, providing your contact details and a detailed description of the item you wish to borrow against. If applying in branch or over the telephone, our staff will fill out the application form for you.

Unless we require more details about the item, we will give you an immediate provisional estimate of your cash loan.

If you have come to one of our branches, simply provide us with the item and we will provide you with your unique customer reference number.

If you are applying online or over the telephone and do not wish to come in to see us, we will send you a pre-paid padded envelope for our fully insured courier service. Just pop your item in the post and we will do the rest.

As soon as your item is received, our team of specialist valuers will assess the jewellery straight away. We will also verify your details and make necessary checks.

Once the item has been formally valued we will make you a full financial offer.

The offer comes with a full copy of our terms and conditions.

Once you accept the offer, simply provide us with your bank details so we can transfer your cash loan to you immediately.

We will arrange a transfer of the funds into your account on the same day that you accept the offer. Alternatively postal orders can be made out and issued by first class post.

As soon as we have received and valued your item it will be stored safely in our secure vaults, and will stay there for the duration of the loan.

How do I retrieve my item?

Again, this is such a simple process. You can pay off the loan at any time during the loan period simply by sending us a cheque, paying in cash at a branch, or transferring the funds into our account*. All of the methods of repayment are detailed in the loan agreement for easy reference. All you need is your unique customer reference number and we will do the rest.

As soon as the loan is repaid, the item will be immediately returned to you using fully insured registered post. Alternatively, simply give us a call to arrange to come and collect it from one of our branches. It's that simple!

How can I extend the loan?

Our highly trained and helpful staff are always happy to talk to you about extending the term of your loan. All we will ask is that you pay the interest that has accrued on the loan up until that date. Just give us a call and quote your customer reference number.

What if I cannot repay the loan?

If you cannot repay the loan, and an extension to the term is not appropriate, we will sell the item to settle the loan on your behalf. Of course, before selling any item we will inform you first. We always try to achieve the highest possible price for your item, and once we have repaid the loan and deducted any associated selling costs, we will return any surplus money directly to you.

Do you need to run a credit check on me?

We do not need to run a credit check on you. All we need are you identification details so that we can comply with the anti money laundering regulations.

Should I be nervous about putting my item in the post?

There is no need to be nervous. We use a courier service that is fully insured and totally secure. Delivery must be signed for, and so we can have total confidence that the item has arrived safely and properly. The envelopes provided are padded and the courier service is a specialist service that is used to transporting valuable packages securely and efficiently.
